Speak Selection — Privacy Policy

Speak Selection is a browser extension that reads selected webpage text aloud using your browser’s built-in speech engine (Web Speech API).

Data we collect

We do not collect, sell, or transmit personal data to our servers.

• Selected text is processed only on your device so the browser can speak it. It is not uploaded to Speak Selection servers (we do not operate any).
• Settings (voice preference, speed, pitch, volume) are stored locally via the browser’s extension storage, optionally synced by your Google or Microsoft account if you use browser sync.

Permissions

• Context menus — add “Speak Selection” to the right-click menu.
• Storage — save your voice and speed preferences.
• Active tab / host access — read the text you select on the page you are viewing so it can be spoken.

Third parties

Speech may use voices provided by your operating system or browser vendor (Google Chrome, Microsoft Edge, etc.). Their privacy policies apply to those system components.
